Nipple Clamps
The majority of nipple clamps are designed for light to moderate pressure though many can often look intimidating (Mason, 2012). Nipple clamps can be fun because the nipples are filled with millions of nerve endings in anyone and the temporary constriction blood flow is found by many to be a pleasing pain (PHE Inc., 2013). As with any BDSM activity, it is important to consider the person you are playing with the ensure they are safe and ethical (Care Giving Blog, 2012).
Not everyone will enjoy these types of toys. Some nipples are sensitive while others are not sensitive at all. Be sure to communicate with your partner about how they feel about using these toys. It is also important to note that the duration in which the toys can be used at one time will also vary person to person. Be sensitive to the changes in experience and remove the clamps in any strong feelings of the wrong type of discomfort arise.
Care of your Clamps
It is important to keep your clamps clean. Dirty clamps can cause infections on the nipple (HomoHealth, 2001). Cleaning may be done with soap and water if the clamps have rubber ends. If the clamps are only metal, they may be boiled. If you wish to loosen the tension on your clamp, this can be done by widening the spring mechanism. Depending on your clamp, this could be done by attaching it to a book or surface and leaving it for a while to allow the spring to stretch. With other types of clamps you may need to unwind the spring a little with a pair of pliers (Shadowborne, 1998).
