Types of Wartenberg Pinwheel
There are a number of different types of Wartenberg pinwheels that you can use to achieve variations of the same sensation. Which one you should get will depend on personal preference as each gives a slightly different sensation. The more points closer together on a particular pinwheel, the less intense the prickling sensation will be. It should be noted that while these pinwheels are not meant to break skin, they can be quite sharp and will break skin with the proper application of pressure.

Has 7 spiked wheels on a shared axle
Medieval Pinwheel
Has a heavy steel spiked ball and is designed for high pressure
Double Sided Pinwheel
This model has the sharpest spikes of all the pinwheels
Rolling Drum
As a textured cylinder and meant to be used with a Violet Wand
Bi-Polar Pinwheel Electrode
Designed for opposing electrical poles on dual wheels so that electricity is sent across the skin between them as they move across the body
Plastic Disposable Wheel
This is exactly like the Classic Wheel but is meant for one-time throw-away use
Purchasing Tips
When considering buying one of these items, be sure you know what type you would like. Choosing a hygienic material for this toy is also important unless you purchase one-time use plastic disposables. The best material is a surgical stainless steel for easy cleaning and safety. When you are inspecting the pinwheel, be sure it is in good working order. Check to see that it turns easily with no rust or corrosion and ensure that there are no bent spikes.
