I love this movie. I was shown this movie the morning before I went to my first kink club by my friends. Their whole theory was "if this turns you on...then you’ll probably enjoy tonight" thus will be into kink in some fashion. The only issue I have with this movie is that Mr Grey does not initiate the relationship in a consensual way. Because it’s a move, and thus fictional, and it’s meant to be sexy and a bit scandalous that’s alright. But for the record the way it’s initiated is definitely a no-no in the kink community. Overall this movie is sexy, well acted and full of dark comedy. It’s a wonderful commentary on how our society defines and views “normal” relationships. It’s empowering to any of you who have ever felt like the rest of the world just doesn’t get it.
