Jessica shatters Zachary when she forces him to remember childhood sexual abuse. A drunk driver destroys Alyssa when he kills her slave/lover. Zachary and Alyssa work together to help each other heal, but their recovery could shatter Jessica's world.
This sequel continues with a lot of the appalling and unethical actions of the characters in the story. We return to Jessica's story except now she has graduated and set up her own psychology practice. She repeats the abuse done to her by isolating one of her clients and then leaving him no other avenue except to submit to her experimental treatment. Jessica's conduct towards her client is so aggrevating to sit through as she basically abuses her power to a spectacular degree. The nice thing that is different in this book from the first one is that the abuse does come to an end and it is highlighted for the reader just how damaging and unethical the whole situation is. The reintroduction of Alyssa is this book gives the story a chance to explore the other side of what is happening. Alyssa brings us back to real world BDSM and how people should be navigating their relationships consensually. I just wish the author hadn't almost two full books to get there. This story could have easily been re-edited into one book and been signficantly more effective as a story.
The writing in this book continues in its style much as it did for the first book. It remains engaging to read throughout the book but some of the sex and BDSM scenes still rate as mediocre. This book is a dramatic improvement over the first installment.
